Observe the fore and aft pastern and how they both collapse as they make ground contact.
Note how as the fore limb reaches the vertical plane the pastern  gathers and propels the
 Afghan both forward and gently upwards, creating a smooth springy action. Check how the
       fore pastern tucks up as the hind foot slides in under the front foot, measure the distance of the
             hind foot as it passes the front foot print. The greater the velocity the further this distance will be.
